About the role
The Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation is the Mayor of London's statutory development agency and planning authority, leading the capital's largest new regeneration project. Spanning 650 hectares across three boroughs, and with High Speed 2's £1.7bn interchange at Old Oak Common due to open in less than a decade, we have 90 acres of surrounding development sites and plans to bring 25,500 new homes and more than 50,000 new jobs into the heart of west London.

This is a multi-faceted project of immense scale and opportunity, and working closely with our partners, our communities, and local businesses, we have the highest aspirations to achieve an exemplary and superbly connected new urban district for the capital.

We already have thousands of new homes under construction, and massive business investments, but the big moves are still to come as key development sites come forward and HS2 nears completion. That's why we now need a seasoned transport planner, with sound strategic judgement and experience of delivering complex transport projects and programmes who can help shape and deliver our vision for a highly connected and sustainable new urban district.

You will have experience of transport planning and strategy formulation across a range of transport projects within a high-density urban context. You will need strong organisational skills and personal resilience to thrive in a busy and demanding environment.

The role will report to the Head of Planning Policy in OPDC's Planning Directorate and will support OPDC in its role as local planning authority. This will include the production or project management of transport studies to inform planning policy including OPDC's Local Plan review and reviewing and commenting on planning applications. The role will also require you to work closely with OPDC's Delivery Directorate on range of strategic transport projects across Old Oak and Park Royal.

You will have experience of working in a complex stakeholder environment. The role will require you to work closely with a range of transport stakeholders including local highways authorities, Transport for London, Department for Transport, Network Rail and High Speed 2 (HS2) Ltd so we are seeking a confident communicator, able to maintain and build strong relationships and build consensus across a range of parties.

As one of the UK's largest regeneration projects with a range of strategic transport projects planned for delivery over the next 20 years, for the right candidate, this role offers excellent opportunities for personal and career development.

The OPDCGLA Competency Framework Guidelines further detailing each competency and the different level indicators can be found here: OPDC/GLA competency framework.

This role is based at Brent Civic Centre (32 Engineers Way, Wembley, HA9 0FJ).

OPDC staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
