Pattern of Working:

This is a full time post. The role will involve managing and delivering educational programmes in Siambr Hywel and the Senedd, and the delivery of workshops with youth groups across South Wales. Evening and weekend work will be required. You will be expected to travel within your role on occasion and some overnight stays will be necessary. It will be expected that the post holder can use their own car, a hire car or determine how they can otherwise fulfil the requirements of the role.

Security Clearance:

This position has been assessed as requiring a ‘CTC’ level of security vetting. For candidates who do not currently possess this level of clearance, appointment would be subject to the successful completion of this level of security vetting.

Purpose of the post
The Assembly Commission is responsible for providing the services the Assembly needs to fulfil its parliamentary functions.

Communicating with the people of Wales is a key strategic function, in particular engaging with the young people of Wales.

The Assembly’s Education and Youth Engagement team provides a range of educational programmes on the Assembly estate and educational establishments across Wales to meet the Assembly’s Children and Young People Charter’s three key aims. The first is to inspire more young people to get involved in the work of the Assembly. Secondly, to provide more opportunities for debate and ensure young people’s views are considered by Assembly Members. Thirdly, to feedback, to ensure that young people see the value of engaging with the Assembly’s work.

The Assembly is committed to providing opportunities for children and young people to learn and contribute to the work of the Assembly. Siambr Hywel is the Assembly’s education and youth engagement chamber and this role will provide an opportunity to review its use and to design tailor made educational programmes for the children and young people visiting the Assembly.

During 2018 the post holder will be working with colleagues within the Communications team to establish a new Youth Parliament for Wales, and playing a key role in supporting the elected members once the Youth Parliament is established. The post holder will be involved in the efforts to establish a new Youth Parliament for Wales, supporting the elected members and arranging meetings and events in the South Wales area.

Yn ystod 2018 bydd deiliad y swydd yn gweithio gyda chydweithwyr yn yr adran Gyfathrebu i sefydlu Senedd Ieuenctid newydd i Gymru ac yn chwarae rhan allweddol wrth gynorthwyo’r cynrychiolwyr ifanc ar ôl sefydlu’r Senedd. Bydd deiliad y swydd yn chwarae rhan bwysig o ran sefydlu Senedd Ieuenctid i Gymru, cynorthwyo’r cynrychiolwyr ifanc a threfnu cyfarfodydd a digwyddiadau yn Ne Cymru.
