role summary

This is a chance to learn about marine engineering and harbour work.
You will work with experts who keep the Dee Estuary safe and working well.
You will do practical jobs and learn how the harbour operates.

key tasks

Go on a boat to check and fix navigation buoys.
Help the Harbour Master look for old boats that need to be removed.
Visit a commercial port to see how it works.
Learn about how climate change affects the coast and what we do to help.

skills and experience

You should be interested in marine engineering, maritime work, or environmental care.
You will learn technical and practical skills during your placement.
No previous experience needed, but enthusiasm is important.

£ pay and hours

This is an unpaid work experience placement.
Hours and length of work experience will be arranged at the start.

location and workplace

You will mainly be based in Buckley.
There will be visits to different sites around the Dee Estuary.
