role summary

You will be Chair of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA).
HFEA is a UK group that checks fertility treatments and embryo research.
You help make sure the HFEA follows the government's rules and does its job well.
You work with the Chief Executive to have good relations with others involved.
You support and guide the other members of the Authority.

key tasks

Lead the board of the HFEA.
Make sure the members are well trained and supported.
Give advice about members’ performance to the Department of Health and Social Care.
Make important decisions based on facts and information.
Work well with different people to improve the organisation.

skills and experience

You need lots of experience leading big organisations.
You must have good judgment and be able to understand complex information.
You must have good communication and teamwork skills.
You cannot be a doctor or anyone who has worked with human sperm, eggs or embryos.
