Job Description

The Gambling Commission is seeking an exceptional leader to join us as Chief Executive Officer. We regulate gambling in Great Britain and the National Lottery, with a clear purpose to ensure gambling is fair, safe and free from crime. Operating in a complex and increasingly technology-enabled environment, the Commission must respond to emerging risks whilst maintaining public trust.

You will lead the Commission through a significant period of change ensuring the organisation delivers against its priorities. This includes overseeing reforms arising from the Gambling Act Review and ensuring the Commission remains an effective and forward-looking regulator in an increasingly digital and data-driven market. You will also oversee the regulation of the National Lottery and work with government and wider stakeholders to strengthen consumer protection.

Working closely with the Chair, Board and Executive Team, you will translate strategy into delivery while providing visible leadership across the organisation. As Accounting Officer, you will ensure resources are managed effectively and responsibly. The role carries a significant national and international profile, requiring you to represent the Commission with authority, build influential relationships and work alongside international regulatory partners to address the opportunities and challenges presented by a rapidly evolving sector including the threat from illegal gambling

You will bring a strong track record of senior leadership within a large and complex organisation, with experience of leading significant transformation, including digital, data and technology-enabled change. Combining commercial and financial acumen with political awareness and sound judgement, you will be a credible and resilient leader capable of operating effectively under public scrutiny. Experience as a Chief Executive, Accounting Officer or equivalent senior leader would be advantageous, as would experience within a regulatory, public sector or similarly complex environment.
